'Yobs' Threaten Asian Man In Traffic With Knife
A man was racially abused and threatened with a knife while he was stuck in traffic in Salford, police have said.
At around 4.45pm on Wednesday, a 29-year-old man, of Asian origin, was sitting in a sliver Vauxhall Astra on Eccles Road when six youths on pedal cycles rode up from the A580, East Lancashire Road.
Police say two of the youths rode up to the car and one punched the driver's door window.
When the man opened his window he was racially abused by the youths, one of whom threatened him with a knife.
The victim asked the offender with the knife how old he was, to which he replied "old enough to stab you".
The man then wound up his window and drove off when the traffic started moving.
The youth with the knife is described as white, between 15 and 16 years old, 5ft 3in tall, of slim build and with either a burn or scar on one cheek.
The second youth is described as white, 5ft 6in tall, 16 or 17 years old and of medium build.
Police Constable Jason Calder from Salford police station said: "This man was sitting in his car when he was threatened at knife point and racially abused.
"Anyone who carries a knife poses a significant threat and must be caught. This kind of yobbish behaviour is completely unacceptable.
"The victim was stuck in heavy traffic and I am certain someone would have witnessed the incident or even seen a group of about six teenagers on bikes in the area. I would appeal to anyone with any information to contact police."
Anyone with information is asked to call Salford police station on 0161 856 5460.
