Murder Investigation Underway In Aberdeen
A major police investigation is underway after a man was found dead in a tenement stairwell in Aberdeen.
Officers were called to an address in Ritchie Place on Tuesday at aroud 7pm after they received reports that a man, believed to be in his 40s, had been injured.
The Evening Express has since reported that the man, named locally as Chris Lindsay, "was...stabbed to death".
A spokesman for Grampian Police said: "Grampian Police are currently investigating the circumstances leading to the death of a male at an address in Ritchie Place, Aberdeen.
"Police went to the scene in the Tillydrone area of the city around 7pm Tuesday 29 July 2008, following reports that a man had been injured."
The spokesman added that "while the investigation is in its very early stages" it is "being treated as a murder enquiry".
Detectives carried out detailed inquiries and gathered information overnight.
One local described seeing a man "covered in blood" in the stairwell of the building.
He said that residents were told they could not return to the eight-flat block where the man died as the investigation continued overnight.
Police are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.

Police in Fife have appealed for information into an ongoing investigation following the discovery of a man's body in Glenrothes. Police discovered the body of Aleksandrs Sokolovs (29) inside a property on Tummel Road on Monday. The death of the Latvian-national is being treated as suspicious.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Police shoot dead man outside Hull
Police have confirmed that they shot dead a man just outside Hull early this morning. The incident took place on the A63 near Welton in East Yorkshire. Humberside Police were called to the scene around 06:20 GMT, after receiving reports that a van was being driven the wrong way down the eastbound carriageway.

Police searching for a missing Aberdeen man have released CCTV footage capture on the day he was last seen. Shaun Richie has been missing since Friday 31st October, when he was last seen with friends at a remote woodland area near Strichen. Police have released image from earlier that same day, when Mr Richie was in Fraserburgh.
