Police Appeal After Man Is Stabbed Outside Home
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed outside his house.
The incident happened on Thursday, as the victim, 58, was about to get into his car, which was parked on Hannet Road.
The man was approached by the offender who asked him for a cigarette. When it was refused the assailant pulled out a small kitchen knife and "lashed out" at the victim.
Police say the victim received a slash wound to his hand and then the offender began to walk away.
However, he turned round and ran again at the victim, this time stabbing him in the stomach.
It is understood the offender then ran off down Hollins Walk, Woodhouse Park.
The man's injuries required hospital treatment but are not life threatening.
The attacker has been described as white, about 5ft 8in tall, with a stocky build, short dark hair, stubble and wearing a black coat with a hood, black jeans and black shoes.
Police also said he smelt strongly of alcohol.
Detective Inspector Mark Willdigg, of Wythenshawe CID, said: "This was a motiveless attack on a man who was minding his own business.
"It is fortunate the victim did not suffer more serious injuries, but the assault has left him shaken."
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.
