Flood Risk Eases
Some 45 flood warnings remain as more rain is expected to sweep across the country this week.
However the risk of flooding is lower than over the weekend when five people died in weather related accidents and hundreds where forced out of their homes.
Flood warnings across many parts of the UK have been downgraded however heavy rain forecast for Tuesday could potentially cause further flooding in Northern Ireland, south-west Scotland, north-west England, south-west England and Wales.
The clean-up process has begun in Morpeth, Northumberland, one of the worst effected areas over the weekend, where an estimated 1,000 properties were flooded and hundreds of people were forced to spend Saturday night in temporary accommodation.
Northumberland County Council member Andrew Tebbutt said Morpeth had been "virtually cut off" from the outside world when the River Wansbeck burst its banks.
It will be months before everyone affected will be allowed to return to their homes.
On Friday five people were killed in the heavy rain. A 17-year-old girl from Thamesmead, south London, died while on holiday in Powys when her car overturned into a river.
In Stroud, Gloucestershire a 27-year-old man was killed in a mudslide on a building site.
In Plymouth, Devon a couple were killed when their car crashed into a tree in heavy rain.
A 42-year-old Sheffield man from was killed when the motorbike he was riding hit a tree branch on the A66.
