Police Investigate Blaze Near BNP Member
West Yorkshire Police are carrying out an investigation after a suspicious fire was reported close to the house of a British National Party (BNP) member.
Police said firefighters and officers were called to tackle the car fire in Windy Bank, Liversedge, West Yorkshire, late on Thursday night.
It is understood the car did not belong to anyone connected with the far-right party, but a member does live on the street.
A West Yorkshire Poice spokesman said the car was parked at the time and there were no injuries.
Referring to the proximity to a BNP member's home, he said: "The cause of the damage and any potential motive all form part of the current investigation."
Names, addresses, mobile phone numbers and job titles of more than 12,000 BNP members, dated from 2007, were leaked online, prompting calls for a police investigation by the far right party's leader.
Nick Griffin claimed the list was published by a disgruntled "hardliner" who left the party next year, and also pledged to take court action against those responsible for the leak.
There are eight people with Liversedge addresses on the leaked list.
