On-The-Run Murderer 'Killed By Train'
A convicted murderer who escaped from a secure mental hospital in south London has died after being hit by a train.
Paul Caesar, 37, was last seen at Springfield Hospital in Tooting, where he was being held under an order following his 1996 murder conviction.
He died at Balham railway station, in south west London, two hours after going missing. Sources say the 37-year-old is believed to have committed suicide.
According to reports his body was so badly mutilated after being struck by the train, that he could not be identified.
Body parts had to be forensically examined at a centre in north-west London, so the police hunt could be formally called off.
He was last seen at the hospital on Tuesday morning, where he failed to return to after spending time unescorted on the grounds of the facility.
