Jade Confronted By Woman With Hammer
Terminally ill reality television star Jade Goody has been confronted at her bedside by a woman with a hammer.
According to her publicist, Max Clifford, Goody woke up to find a woman leaning over her clutching the hammer at London's Royal Marsden Hospital.
Police were called and a 41-year-old woman was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon, but was later released.
The incident happened at around 3pm on Sunday, shortly after Goody's husband Jack Tweed had left her room to get a cup of tea.
Mr Clifford said: "Jack had been with her for a few hours and had gone to get a cup of tea in the canteen when this happened.
"She was not hurt but was very shaken up, as you can imagine."
A spokesman for the Metropolitan police said: "I can confirm we were called to the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea this afternoon.
"We arrested a woman who was in a patient's room and whose behaviour was flagged up by the hospital's security. After questioning her she was found to be in possession of an offensive weapon.
"She was arrested for possessing the weapon and taken into custody at a London police station for further questioning. She had not attempted to use the weapon."
Goody has only weeks to live after her cervical cancer spread to her liver, groin and bowel.
The 27-year-old was resting after being christened along with her two sons, Bobby and Freddie.
Mr Clifford described the service as "very short and emotional".
