Man Charged Over Missing Wife's Murder
A 46-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his wife, who has been missing from her home for more than a year. Kate Prout, 56, went missing on 5 November 2007 from her farm at Redmarley in the Forest of Dean. Her husband Adrian Prout, 46, was arrested on Tuesday morning at the property. At the height of the inquiry more than 100 police officers were involved. Mr Prout is due to appear before Cheltenham Magistates' Court later. Ann Reddrop, spokeswoman for the Crown Prosecution Service said: "We have been working closely with the police over the past months to investigate all aspects of Mrs Prout's disappearance before reaching a final decision on charging. Accordingly, we have this week authorised the police to charge Mr Prout."
Toddler Crushed By Falling TV
A toddler has died after a television set fell on top of her at her Edinburgh home. Two-year-old Karli Ann Watt is thought to have touched the TV, which toppled and crushed her. The young child's parents rushed to her aid where she lay injured at their home in Moredun. She was taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children after the incident, which took place on Saturday. However, she died a short time later. A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "Lothian and Borders Police are investigating the death of a two-year-old girl from Edinburgh. We do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances at this time. However, inquiries are ongoing."
Two In Court Over Man’s Murder
Two people appeared in court today in relation to the murder of a man in Llanelli. Darren Curwood, 36, is accused of murder and Kirsty Bettis, 24, is charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice. A murder inquiry was launched after 36-year-old Richard Shrapnell was found dead in a property in Station Road in the Carmarthenshire town on Thursday. Dyfed-Powys Police have increased patrols by the local neighbourhood policing teams in the area. Both were remanded into custody at Llanelli Magistrates' Court.
Pensioner Hurt In Robbery
A 101-year-old man has been injured during a robbery in his Oxford home. The incident took place at his property in Summertown, on Sunday after he attended morning Mass at nearby Black Friars Priory in St Giles. It is understood the victim had befriended a man there who walked him home. The victim sustained minor facial injuries.The man then followed the elderly man home and assaulted him. The robber has been described as white, in his mid-30s and about 5ft 5ins tall. He made off with about £400.
Livestock Market Roadshow To Give Farmers Time With Defra
Farmers will have more opportunities to discuss their views, ideas and concerns with Defra staff at this year's Livestock Market roadshow. The UK-wide tour, beginning on 13 March in Hexham and Exeter, will consist of visits to more than 80 markets throughout the year, giving farmers the chance to talk directly to government representatives about areas that affect the industry. Farming Minister Jane Kennedy said: "I really hope farmers take this opportunity to talk to Defra officials about their concerns or raise issues - we're there to listen as well as provide information, and I'm looking forward to attending one of the roadshows myself."

A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

Police officers have lost their High Court battle for a 2.5% pay rise to be paid in full. Home Secretary Jacqui Smith refused to implement their pay award in full, which has led to bitterness among the ranks. The Police Federation said that Ms Smith has acted unlawfully.
