Boy Critically Ill After Being Hit By Two Cars

A nine-year-old boy is critically ill in hospital after being hit by two cars near Wrexham. North Wales Police said the first car did not stop following the incident at 7.30pm at Overton on Thursday. It is believed the local boy was riding or pushing a bike when he was hit, before being struck by a second car travelling in the opposite direction. The A539 road is expected to stay closed for investigations until the early afternoon on Friday. The boy was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital and later transferred to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool, where police said he was in a critical but stable condition. Police have urged the driver who did not stop to come forward and also appealed for any witnesses.

Police Investigate Fight Death

Police investigating the death of a 22-year-old man are seeking witnesses to a fight in central London. Atef Jablaoui was involved in a fight with another man outside the Park West building in Kendal Street, Westminster. Two days later Mr Jablaoui, a Tunisian national from Harrow, north-west London, died from a head injury. No-one has been arrested. Metropolitan Police have launched a murder inquiry and want to hear from anyone who saw the 6 March incident.

Woman Dies On Rail Track

The main west coast rail line has been reopened after a southbound train hit and killed a woman on the track near Lockerbie Station. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 5.30am. The victim has not yet been identified. Trains both north and south of Carlisle were affected by the closure, with trains travelling from the south of England terminating at Preston or Carlisle. British Transport Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.

Canoe Recovered In Missing Man Search

A boat has been recovered by rescue teams searching for a missing canoeist in Argyll and Bute. A search got underway on Thursday night after a man in his 50s was reported missing in the Loch Long area at around 10.35pm. Three coastguard search teams and police boats are taking part alongside military police from Faslane Naval Base in the search. It has now been confirmed that a canoe which was found on Thursday belonged to the missing, who is from the nearby, village of Cove.

Man Killed On Country Road

A pedestrian has been killed after being hit by a car while walking along a dark country road in Fife, police have confirmed. Richard Harvey, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck at 7.55pm on Thursday on the B921 Glenthroes to Kinglassie road. The accident happened just west of the road’s junction with the B922.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Release Of Police Killer Described As 'Sickening'
The release of a man convicted of killing three unarmed police officers in 1966 has been described as "sickening". Harry Roberts, now aged 78, has been released from prison after serving 48 years for 1966 murders of three unarmed police officers in Shepherd's Bush in west London.

Major Police Hunt Launched After Boy Taken From Hospital
A major police hunt has begun after a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, was taken by his family without consent from Southampton General Hospital. Police said that Ashya King was taken from the hospital by Brett King, 51, and Naghemeh King, 45, on Thursday. It is thought he may have been taken to France.
