Appeal After Solihull Cinema Sex Assault

Police have appealed for information after a young woman was indecently assaulted at a West Midlands cinema.

The incident happened between 4.10pm and 6pm on Monday within a screening room in Cineworld at Touchwood Shopping Centre in Solihull.

A woman aged 23 was indecently assaulted by a man, described as Asian male, 5ft 10ins tall, late 40s with short beard and round-rimmed glasses.

He was wearing a dark blue turban, light blue coat and black trousers. He was holding a grey side bag.

The victim made off from the cinema when the offender left his seat to go to the toilet.

It is believed the offender may have left the cinema around 6pm.

Detective Inspector Darren Lee, from Solihull CID, said the offender had approached the victim within Mell Square, Solihull a short while before the incident.

He said it is possible he then followed her into the cinema.

"We would appeal for any witnesses who may have seen the suspect and victim together in Mell Square and particularly outside and in the foyer of Cineworld," said DI Lee.

"We would also urge anyone who recognises the description of the suspect, particularly if they have been approached in a similar manner, to contact police."
