Ex-Cricketer Jailed For Drug Smuggling
Former England cricketer Chris Lewis has been jailed for 13 years for smuggling cocaine into Britain. The 41-year-old carried the drug in his cricket bag from St Lucia, but was stopped at Gatwick Airport. Cans of fruit and vegetable juice were seized by officials last December which had dissolved cocaine with a street value of over £140,000. His accomplice, Chad Kirnon, 27, was found with three tins of dissolved cocaine in his luggage on the same morning on December 8, last year. He was also given 13 years. Lewis, 41, of Bruce Road in Brent, north London, had denied the charge, claiming to have been on an innocent holiday in St Lucia.
Two Charged With Teen Murder
Two men have appeared in court charged with murdering a teenager in a Midlothian. Daniel Hambleton, 19, was badly injured near his home in Kippielaw Park in Dalkeith at the weekend and died later in hospital. Colin Gourlay, 47, of Dalkeith, and his son Dean, 24, made no plea or declaration when they appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court. They were remanded in custody after the procurator fiscal refused bail.
Man Dies After Suspected Heart Attack
A 60-year-old man has died after collapsing while fell walking in the Lake District. The man was walking with friends and work colleagues near Grasmere when he suffered a suspected heart attack. Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team was called to the scene at Huntingstile on Tuesday afternoon, but when they arrived the man had died. Team members assisted in recovering the man's body, which was taken down the fells to Ambleside.
Two Charged Over Hit-And-Run Death
Two men have been charged in relation to the death of a pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run crash. Terence John Sotheron, 49, was hit by a car outside the Carlton Pub on Camp Street, Salford, on Saturday night. A 27-year-old man, from Salford, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and will appear before Salford magistrates later. A 31-year-old man, from Irlam, has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice. Mr Sotheron was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash at 11.45pm.
Teen Raped In Greater Manchester
A teenage girl has been raped after leaving a bar after a night out with friends in Greater Manchester. The teen, who was seen talking to a group of five men in Browns in Hazel Grove, before leaving with one of them in the early hours of Sunday. She was discovered semi-conscious in a car park around 200 yards away in Brook Street, around 30 minutes later. Some clothing was missing, and police believe she was raped. Det Sgt Julia Bowden, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "At this time of night the area would have been quite busy so we would like to speak to anyone who may know what happened to the girl, in particular the group of men she spoke to in Browns who were all white and in their late teens to early 20s.

Fourth Man Arrested In PM Plot
A fourth man has been arrested over an alleged plot to kill the Prime Minister, according to police sources. The 25-year-old, from Blackburn, Lancashire, was held under the Terrorism Act 2006. The man is the fourth member of a suspected 'terror cell' held by detectives in the past fortnight.

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a four-month-old baby girl. Craig Jamieson, 28, from Scotscoun, appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, where he was remanded in custody. Mr Jamieson was arrested on Friday, shortly after the baby died in Glasgow's Yorkhill Hospital, after being taken from her home in Partick.

A British man who fell from a hotel balcony in Greece with his two young children has been accused of murder after his six year old son Liam died. John Hogan, 32, from Bristol also faces an attempted murder charge as his two year old daughter Mia was injured in the fall.
