Five Hurt In Police Car Crash

Five people have been reportedly injured after an unmarked police car was involved in a collision near Dunblane. The civilian driver of the Honda, which collided with a police driving school Ford Mondeo, was airlifted to Stirling Hospital where his condition has been described as serious. The incident took place at about 8.40am on the A820 road to Doune. Central Scotland Police said the Ford car was carrying four police officers at the time of the crash, all of whom have been taken to SRI. Their conditions are not thought to be serious.

Funeral For Baby Found In Woods

A funeral for a baby girl who was found dead in woodland on Teesside is to take place today. The body of the premature girl, named Lea by police, was discovered wrapped in a beach towel in Kirkleatham, Redcar, in February 2008. Her mother has never been found, despite several appeals to trace a distressed woman seen in the area several days earlier. The funeral for Baby Lea was due to take place at a service at Kirkleatham Church at midday. The infant's body was found wrapped in the distinctive blue and purple striped towel, inside a bin liner, in Kirkleatham Lane on 20 February. Police have repeatedly appealed for a woman, who had short bobbed hair and was wearing a black jumper, seen in an "emotional state" near the village's St Cuthbert's Church three days earlier, to come forward.

Arrest Over Alleged Attack

Police have arrested two men in relation to an alleged assault which left a man with serious head injuries. The suspects, from Dolgellau, Gwynedd, and Penmachno, Conwy, were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning and remain in custody. The alleged attack happened outside the Time nightclub in Bangor, Gwynedd, on Tuesday 9 June. A 21-year-old man remains in a critical condition in a head injuries unit in Liverpool. As part of the investigation, police released CCTV images.

Pair Charged With Attempted Murder

Two men have appeared in court accused of attempted murder after a man was attacked in Dundee. The 30-year-old had to be taken to Ninewells Hospital after being assaulted by a group carrying various weapons on Dunholm Road on Saturday. Alan Neave, 33, and Robert Mudie, 34, were charged with attempted murder when they appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court. The pair, who both live in the city, made no plea or declaration and were remanded in custody.

Police Investigating If Woman Was Trying To Save Dog When She Was Hit By Train
British Transport Police investigating the death of a woman have said that she may have been trying to save a dog when she was hit by a train. The 22-year-old woman was struck by a train close to Ainsdale station near Southport, Merseyside at about 15:00 on Wednesday. Transport police said a dog was also found dead at the scene.

Investigation continues as armed officers shoot man dead
Investigations were continuing today following the killing of a 23-year old man by armed officers from the Metropolitan Police in the Thornton Heath area of south London. According to police, a handgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting, which took place at around 11.25am on Wednesday in Raymead Passage, London Road in Thornton Heath.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

IPCC To Investigate Officers In Hamzah Khan Case
Officers involved in the case of a boy found starved to death are to be investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC). The police watchdog is to investigate what action police took following allegations of neglect were made to West Yorkshire Police before the discovery of the body of four-year-old Hamzah Khan in 2011.
