Cameron Goes 'On The Beat'
Opposition leader David Cameron has said a Troy government would revise licensing laws in the UK.
Mr Cameron, speaking on a walkabout with police officers in Hull, said it was "unbelievable" alcohol was so readily available, at such cheap prices.
The Conservative boss said his party would look at ways to curb alcohol-related crime.
His visit was prompted by two local officers commended for their bravery at a recent awards event.
PCs Alan Cowley and Gareth Walker were recognised at the National Police Bravery Awards for rescuing three drunken men from the city's marina in April last year.
Mr Cameron congratulated both officers on their "fantastic" and "very brave" work.
During a police patrol, the Tory - who is currently topping public opinion polls - said: "Drink-related violence and drink-related crime are a massive problem in our country."
Mr Cameron said his party was prepared to make "serious changes" to the Licensing Act to help tackle the problem.
"We need to look at the unbelievable availability of very cheap drink, getting three litres of cider for £1.99, at all hours of day and night.
"We've got to do something about this and I'm exploring what we can do to deal with the drink that's fuelling so much of the crime in our country."

Survey reveals falling level of some crimes
The overall crime rate in England and Wales is continuing to fall, according to the results of the British Crime Survey (BCS). The survey showed that the overall crime rate fell by 11%, in the year ending September 2004.

Man killed in Street Clash
A man has died following a street fight in Reading. Another man was seriously injured during the incident that took place in the St Mary’s Butts area of the town at around 4am this morning. Police believe two gangs were involved in the fight. Two men were taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, where one man later died of his injuries.

London remained relatively calm last night, although rioting has continued in other cities, including Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham and Birmingham. Three men, aged 31, 30 and 21, were killed in Birmingham when they were hit by a car.

Figures reports rise in violent crime
Violent crime is on the rise, police figures have revealed, increasing by 9% in the last three months of 2004. However, overall crime fell compared with the same period last year, with the total number of crimes recorded by police in England and Wales in the last quarter falling by 5% to 1,381,400.
