Real IRA Claims Responsibility For Derry Attacks

The dissident republican group, the Real IRA, has admitted responsibility for three separate attacks in Londonderry on Friday. In two of the incidents, explosive devices were left outside two houses - one in the Shantallow area and the other in Kylemore Park in the Springtown area of the city. It is understood that the homes are those of the parents and sister, respectively, of a serving Catholic police officer. The device in the Shantallow area exploded, damaging a car, while a suspicious object at Kylemore Park is being examined. A number of houses in the area were evacuated as a result of the incident. The Real IRA have also claimed responsibility for the shooting of a man in the Drumard Park area of Ballymagroaty on Friday, The man was shot in the legs and left hand, after a number of men forced their way into a house around 1:30am. He is being treated in hospital, where his condition is described as stable.



Child Killed In Manchester RTC

A four-year-old girl has died after she was struck in a road traffic collision in Openshaw, north Manchester. The girl was walking along Parkhouse Street around 9:45am on Friday, when a Ford Focus collided with a Ford Transit van. The collision resulted in the van mounting the kerb, striking the girl. The child was taken to hospital, where she later died. Her 22-year-old mother was also injured in the incident and was taken to hospital. The driver of the Ford Focus was treated in hospital for shock, while the van driver was not injured. Parkhouse Street and Greenside Street have been closed as a result of the collision. A 31-year-old woman has been arrested by police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Police have also said that two men were seen running from the Ford Focus at Parkhouse Street and have appealed for them to come forward. British Man Dies In Ibiza

A British man has died at a holiday resort in Ibiza. Michael Carter, 27, who is reported to be from Derbyshire, died in the San Antonio Bay area of the island on Monday. The Foreign Office has confirmed the death and said that his family have been informed and are receiving consular assistance.

Paddington Murder Investigation Launched
Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Paddington. The body of Michael Walser, 45, was discovered at his flat in Gloucester Terrace W2 on Sunday 24 June 2012. A post-mortem gave the cause of death as a head injury.

Man killed in Street Clash
A man has died following a street fight in Reading. Another man was seriously injured during the incident that took place in the St Mary’s Butts area of the town at around 4am this morning. Police believe two gangs were involved in the fight. Two men were taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, where one man later died of his injuries.

Police Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Stabbing
Essex Police have appealed for witnesses to a fatal stabbing in a Chelmsford park at about 15:15 on Thursday afternoon. It is understood that a man died in hospital after being fatally injured in an incident on Oaklands Park, Moulsham Street, yesterday.

Teenager rescued from sea dies
A 15-year-old boy rescued from the sea off Norfolk has died. A lifeboat crew rescued the boy who had got into difficulties while swimming with another boy off Wells-Next-the-Sea, Norfolk. He was located by the lifeboat and was airlifted to hospital. But he later died shortly after being admitted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Man Dies In London Blaze
A man has died following a blaze at a block of flats in south-east London. Firefighters found the man collapsed on the fourth floor of the seven floor building at 11.30pm on Tuesday. London Fire Brigage (LFB) said that three engines and around 15 firefighters were deployed to tackle the fire at the building in Steadman Street, Walworth, Southwark.
