Green light for major development at Belfast International Airport
Environment Minister, Dermot Nesbitt, has given planning permission for a major development at Belfast International Airport to go ahead.
Mr Nesbitt, who made the announcement on Friday 15 March, said he was giving his approval for the Genesis Business Park at Belfast International Airport because of the benefits it would bring for Northern Ireland as a whole.
The proposal includes the potential for business and light industrial units, call centres and serviced offices. The development will further capitalise on the employment potential of Belfast International Airport.
The application also includes improvements to facilities at the airport for maintenance, cargo handling and distribution, as well as necessitating major improvements to roads in the Antrim area.
Commenting on the benefits for Northern Ireland as a whole Mr Nesbitt said: “This is significant investment in Northern Ireland. It will bring considerable benefits in terms of employment opportunities and improved facilities”. (AMcE)
