Abducted Man Shot In Ardoyne
A 23-year-old man was shot last night after being abducted on Ardoyne Avenue, in north Belfast, writes Carla Liébana.
Police said he was bundled into a small red van by two men wearing balaclavas.
He was then driven to an entry off Highbury Gardens, where he was shot once in his right leg. His attackers then made off along Berwick Road.
The victim was later taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.
SDLP North Belfast MLA Alban Maginness, the party's spokesperson on justice, condemned the shooting.
He said: "This is a retrospect step back to a time we want to leave behind. Nobody has the right to inflict any kind of physical harm on another individual.
"I hope those responsible are quickly brought to justice and a message is sent out to other still stuck in the past that they will go to jail for their actions," he stated.
The incident was reported shortly after 7.30pm.
Police have appealed to anyone with information about the case to contact them on 0845 600 8000.

Man Shot In Leg In North Belfast
A man has been shot in the leg in north Belfast. The incident happened in the Butler Walk area at around 10pm on Tuesday. The victim went to answer a knock at the door and before opening it he heard a loud bang and realised he had been shot in the leg. He received hospital treatment, however his injuries are not believed to be lift threatening.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of Colin Horner
A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Colin Horner in Bangor, Co Down. Mr Horner was fatally shot outside a supermarket in from of his young son on 28 May this year. The suspect has been taken to Musgrave police station to be questioned.

A man has been shot dead in west Belfast. It is the third shooting incident in the city in less than 24 hours. Daniel Murray, a delivery driver aged in his 50s, was killed in his car on Lady Street on Monday night. Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey condemned the attack He said: "There can be no place in our society for such actions.

Police Appeal After Man Shot Dead In Bangor
Police are appealing for information following the murder of Colin Horner, who was shot in front of his three-year-old son at Sainbury's car park in Bangor on Sunday, 28 May. The boy was in the car at the time of the attack. It is understood Mr Horner, originally from Co Antrim, has loyalist links.
