NI World Cup Bid 'Needs Miracle'

Although the 'game is up' for the Province, Northern Ireland fans are hoping their team will finish their failed World cup campaign with a win against the Czech Republic tonight.

Nigel Worthington's side will be supported by over 2,000 members of the Green and White Army in Prague, despite the now remote chance of NI qualifying for the finals in South Africa next year.

Defeat to Slovakia at Windsor Park last month all but dashed the hopes of David Healy and his teammates, as they now are relying on a minor miracle, having to beat the Czechs by seven clear goals and hope San Marino can claim their first ever competitive win against Slovenia.

Nonetheless, supporters are proud their team remained 'in the mix' in Group Three until the latter stages of qualifying.

However, the game at the Synot Tip Arena will be difficult given the withdrawal of eight players through injury and illness.

Coverage on BBC2 TV and Radio Ulster starts at 7.30pm.
