BNP 'Question Time' Provokes Protest
Protestors against the British National Party yesterday took to the streets in NI's two major cities - as well as hundreds more turning out in violent protest in London at the same time as the NI confrontations were taking place.
News that the BNP Leader Nick Griffin was to go on air as a panellist on the BBC's flagship Question Time programme last night led to the demonstrations being staged in Belfast and Londonderry.
About 100 anti-fascist protesters were involved in a stand-off with 10 BNP supporters outside Broadcasting House at Ormeau Avenue on Thursday evening.
During altercations, a 35-year-old woman was arrested for breach of peace and released on bail.
On foot of the appearance, the BBC defended the invitation, and said it was "appropriate" given the support the BNP received in the last European election when it gained its first MEPs.
BBC Deputy Director General Mark Byford said it had been "appropriate" to invite Mr Griffin to appear given the support the BNP received in the last European elections.

A right wing UK nationalist party has been leafleting an east Belfast soccer match. The presence of the British National Party (BNP) members outside the Glentoran V Glenavon football game at the Oval has been described as uninvited and unwelcome by both fans and by Robin Newton, the East Belfast DUP MLA and Stormont Junior Minister.

Four Arrested Following Disorder In South Belfast
Four men have been arrested following public disorder incidents in the university area of south Belfast on Thursday, November 14th. Police responded to a number of offences, including resisting and obstructing police, and assault on police. Three men, aged 18, 20, and 21, have been charged and are due to appear in court in December.

Nick Griffin continues to cause controversy over his decision not to apologise for comments he made following Saturday’s Ulster Covenant centenary parade. The BNP leader defended using the term "f*nian", a derogatory term for Catholics, on his Twitter account.

Dublin Flag Protest Called Off
A loyalist protest to be staged outside Leinster House in Dublin this Saturday has been called off. The move follows talks between An Garda Síochána and the protest’s planner, Willie Frazer. Gardai had been in the process of drawing up plans to police the protest, given the high chance of clashes between loyalists and dissident republicans.
