Nineteen year old is charged with teenager's death

A man has appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in west Belfast.

Henry Christopher Marley, 19, from Collinward Street was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and number of other motoring offences.

Mr Marley was also accused of stealing a motor vehicle and of the theft of alcohol.

He has denied the charges and was remanded in custody.

A 20-year-old man, who was arrested at the same time as the teenager, had been charged with taking and driving away and theft, but these offences were not directly related to the death.

Debbie McComb, 15, from Glenalina Park, Ballymurphy, died after being struck on the Springfield Road on Friday in the alleged hit-and-run accident.

More than 1,000 people attended the teenager's funeral at Corpus Christi Church in Ballymurphy on Tuesday March 5, before she was laid to rest in Belfast's city cemetery.

On Monday evening, hundreds of people attended a candle-lit vigil in the area for the teenager.
