Schoolgirl appears in court following youth's murder
A 14-year-old schoolgirl has appeared in court charged in connection with the murder of Brendan McCabe.
The teenage girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was accused of helping to conceal and dispose of a knife used in the killing.
Brendan McCabe, 18, died on Thursday February 28 from stab wounds sustained in a broad daylight knife attack in Newry.
The girl who appeared before Armagh’s juvenile court on Monday March 4 was remanded in custody until Wednesday when she is due to appear alongside three other teenagers charged in connection with Mr McCabe’s murder.
Mr McCabe, from Mourne View Park in the town, was walking along Canal Street with his mother when the attack happened.
Three other teenagers - two males and a female - have already appeared in court in connection with the killing. One of them, a 16-year-old student, has been charged with murder.
Thousands of people turned up for Mr McCabe's funeral, which was held on Sunday in Newry.

Daniel David Paul Kerr, from Ballymore Park in the Creggan area of the city, denies trying to murder Don McMenamin, 20, following an altercation outside a leisure centre in Rosemount in the early hours of Sunday morning.
