Lifeguard involved in search for car suspects
Three people have been arrested after the coastguard became involved in the search for suspected car thieves.
The incident happened during the early hours of Thursday morning when police attempted to stop two cars on the Kilkeel Road near Newcastle in County Down.
The occupants of one car ran off when approached by police and one occupant jumped over a wall before becoming trapped on a cliff.
In a rescue operation two Newcastle lifeboats were subsequently launched, however the other occupants of the vehicle were later found on land at around 7am and were detained by police.
A second car later crashed in Newcastle, however the people in the car fled the scene of the accident and have yet to be found. (MB)

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Colin Horner Murder: Man Arrested
A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Colin Horner. Mr Horner, 35, was fatally shot in front of his young son in a supermarket car park on Sunday, 28 May. The man was arrested in the Newtownards area on Friday, 16 June. He has been taken to Musgrave Police station for questioning.

Armed Robber Dresses As Police Officer
Police are searching for two men in connection with the attempted armed robbery of a shop in Co Armagh. Police said that one of the men who attempted to rob the shop on West Street, Portadown, was dressed as a policeman. It is understood two men entered the shop at about 10am on Thursday, one of them was carrying a suspected firearm.
