Border CIT Robbers Are Hunted

Police along the border are hunting armed robbers who stole a cash box from a security guard yesterday.

The SDLP Newry and Armagh MLA, Dominic Bradley condemned the armed robbers who stole cash in transit (CIT) at Meigh in South Armagh on Monday afternoon.

He said: "These armed gangs of robbers have got to be stopped and put out of business, and it really doesn't matter whether they are some sort of dissidents or plain 'Me-Feiners'.

"In either case they are criminals who are damaging our community for gain.

"There is no place in our society for people who will hold a gun to a man’s head, except in prison.

"They are damaging to the local economy on which everyone depends and needless to say they are a danger to everyone who might get in their way. Anyone who might have information of use to the investigation of this serious crime should get in touch with the police," he said.

Yesterday, the PSNI issued an appeal for information following the south Armagh robbery which saw a male guard delivering cash to a local business held up by a man carrying a gun. He stole the cash box and was driven off in an Orange Audi car.
