New business directory for Republic of Ireland

IDS Media Group has launched a new business directory of the largest 5,000 businesses in the Republic of Ireland.

The directory contains contact information and company details of the Republic of Ireland’s largest 5,000 companies, organisations and government bodies.

Apart from all the company details, the 275-page directory also provides the names and job titles of over 14,000 senior managers and directors in each company. The directory also contains the web site and email address of each company.

The IDS information database holds details on every type of business from manufacturers, retailers, distributors, services, importers/exporters.

Conduit enquiry number to rival BT's 192 service
Europe’s leading independent supplier of directory enquiries, Conduit has launched 11 88 88, an alternative to BT's 192 service. Conduit say any calls to 11 88 88 can be made from any landline or mobile phone and cost from 20p, exactly half the 40p cost of dialing BT 192.

BT agree £5m Scoot.com directory deal
Following the deregulation of its 192 information service, BT has agreed a £5 million deal for the acquisition of troubled online service Scoot.com. The deal is likely to boost BT's directory operation as the company faces increased competition following the deregulation.

DETI warn of advertising scam
The DETI Trading Standards Service have issued a warning to Ulster businesses to be extra vigilant when approached for company data, as some unscrupulous organisations have been using information gathering as a method of ‘selling’ advertising space. Directory publishers have been targeting many types of businesses in Northern Ireland.

One third of customers get wrong information from 118 services
Research into the new 118 directory inquiry services has found that just over one third of calls resulted in incorrect information being passed on to the customer, it has been revealed today.
