Jobs losses in separate Larne and Saintfield businesses
Insilco Technologies, which makes cables for telecoms, is to axe 44 jobs at its factory in Larne, County Antrim following a recent slump in business.
East Antrim DUP assembly member Roger Hutchinson has called on Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister, Sir Reg Empey to help to regenerate the area.
Mr Hutchinson said redundancies such as Insilco was one of the latest in a long line of job cuts which would have an overall effect on the local economy.
He added: "I have been in touch with the minister for enterprise, trade and investment asking for a regeneration package and have urging him to get investment for Larne and its surrounding area."
Meanwhile, the workforce at County Down-based Carpet Yarn Manufacturer, Saintfield Yarns has been informed that the company is to cut between 45 and 50 jobs. (MB)

Petrol Bombs Thrown At House In Larne
Petrol bombs have been thrown at a house in Larne, County Antrim. Windows were smashed during the attack and the interior of the property on the Belfast Road was also damaged. No one was in the house at the time and a number of arrests have been made, according to the police. They are also appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
