Belfast to see in New Year with Radio One dance party
Belfast City Council has teamed up with BBC Radio One to present the biggest free dance event Northern Ireland has ever seen this coming New Year's Eve.
The Radio One Dance Party will be coming live from a massive outdoor stage at the front of City Hall, with top DJs Seb Fontaine, Jon Carter and Future Shock joining presenter Sara Cox to 'pump up the volume' and help Belfast to party its way into 2002.
The show is to get underway at 8.30pm, with local DJs Alan Simms and Col Hamilton warming things up before the show goes live on Radio One across the UK, and beyond, at 10.30pm.
Admission to the Radio One Dance Party, in association with Belfast City Council, is free of charge. However, the capacity of the concert site will be limited, so partygoers are advised to arrive early in order to avoid disappointment. There will be one main entrance to the concert site, via Castle Junction.
Organisers say that there will be no alcohol on sale within the site, and glass bottles and cans will not be permitted. Partygoers have been advised to dress for the weather, but requested not to bring umbrellas.
Citybus will be operating a normal service up to 11pm, with a special homeward shuttle service from 12.30am, serving the main routes. Further information on this service is available from Citybus on 028 9033 3000.
Belfast City Council and Radio One have warned intending partygoers that they have reserved the right to cancel the event, without prior notice, depending on extreme weather conditions. (SP)

Racist Graffiti Reported In South Belfast
Graffiti depicting a hooded figure below the letters 'KKK' has appeared on a door in south Belfast. The graffiti was discovered just off the London Road in the Ravenhill area, less than a month after so-called "Islamophobic" leaflets were distributed in the area.
