Ballymena Firm Builds Film Archive

A Co Antrim building firm was celebrating contracts worth almost £18m this month with the work including a major project in Birmingham constructing a storage facility for the British Film Institute.

The contract is one of several just won by JBE Building Services Limited at Railway Street, Ballymena and will see the Institute update the facilities used to store the original film reels of every film ever made within the UK.

JBE Building Services Limited Managing Director, John Blair, told his local paper, the Ballymena Guardian that the recent successful bids, along with their current contracts, will see the company have a very busy 18 to 24 months ahead.

The company carries out both Mechanical and Electrical Service Installations.

The new projects will also see JBE Building Services Limited on sites in places across the UK such as Ashford, Birmingham, Carlisle, Glasgow, East Kilbride, Livingston and most challenging of all the Western Isles of Scotland.

"The Western Isles of Scotland contract involves the mechanical and electrical installations to five new schools and commences on the Isle of Lewis this October, with completion date in July 2012," outlined Mr. Blair.

The other areas mentioned all involve the construction of new retail stores for the Dobbies Garden Centre company.

JBE Building Services Limited, which was formed in 1983, have built up a reputation for their ability to deliver quality projects and their long list of completed works include both the prestigious Odyssey and Victoria Square complexes in Belfast.
