North West Fly-Drive package launched
Derry and Donegal have joined forces to offer the Glasgow public an exclusive fly-drive package into the North West region.
The region’s tourist authorities have teamed up with British Airways, and franchise partner Loganair, to bring together a cross-border short breaks package that includes accommodation, car hire, and return flights from Glasgow to the City of Derry Airport.
Catherine O’Connor, Manager of the Derry Visitor and Convention Bureau said she believed the Glasgow public would be enthusiastic about the new package: “We have seen a growing interest from the Scottish region and we feel that with improved access and shorter travelling time that visitors will benefit from an area that has successfully combined the appeal of a City experience and the magic of the countryside. With the City of Derry Airport providing direct access into the region this is a perfect opportunity to increase visitor numbers for everyone”.
Denis Doyle, Tourism Officer North West Tourism said that together Derry and Donegal had something on offer for everyone as within a short driving distance from the City of Derry Airport visitors had an enormous choice of activities offering excellent value.
Speaking at the launch in Glasgow, Ivor Robertson, Customer Services Manager with Loganair, said the introduction of the fly-drive package was a welcome development as inside an hour of leaving Glasgow, visitors could reach a destination that was probably Ireland’s best kept secret.
