Court Date Over Border Weapons
A man has been charged with terrorism offences after a weapons' find in Co Down.
The 54-year-old will be in court in connection with a "significant" firearms seizure, the PSNI have said.
He was arrested on Friday in the border city of Newry by detectives investigating dissident republican activity and is due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court on Monday.
He will face a number of charges including possession of articles likely to be of use to terrorists, and possession of firearms and ammunition.
NI Policing Board member Jonathan Bell has stated the community will welcome the seizure of weapons.
The Strangford MLA said: "Our community has chosen life and a peaceful democratic future.
"Sadly their remains a minority who with their fascist death ideologies regard it as acceptable to blow up children in Lurgan, attempt to murder a policewoman as she straps a child into a baby seat and leave pipe bombs in primary schools.
"They are cowardly and on the wrong side of reason and democracy. It should be remembered that the threat risk assessment in Northern Ireland remains severe," he said, noting that the "right response is for the community to deprive the terrorists of their ability to operate".
"It is for the police then to seek out the terrorist weaponry and structures and make amenable to the courts those determined to enforce death on a community that has chosen life," the DUP politician said.

Man charged following road death
A man has been charged following a road accident on Monday in which a 33-year-old woman died. The 38-year-old man was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit. A second woman was seriously injured in the crash which occurred on Monday on the Newry to Belfast road.

Six Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
Six people have been convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to. 30-year-old Isaiah Harbison of Hallidays Road, Belfast, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £4,777 while still working. He has been sentenced to 100 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £34.
