Waterford Builders Get Nightclub Boost
A projected 100 construction jobs are being anticipated along with regular employment for 150 staff in Waterford if a new nightclub development costing €5.5m goes ahead.
Now approved by the City Council, the development will see the transformation of Harvey's Bar, on Manor Street, into a steak house and seafood bar, luxury bar and brand new nightclub.
Planning permission was granted in mid October for the 38,000 square foot development incorporating therefore making it the largest bar and nightclub construction site in Ireland.
It is being undertaken by the Waterford based Kavanagh Group and will employ approximately 100 people during the construction phase.
A further 150 new jobs will come to Waterford City when the development is finished, which is expected to be in the summer of 2011. Planning and design was handled by local award winning Waterford architects Fewer Harrington.
The project involves both a refit and large expansion plans with design features from a US firm who designed the club at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas.
Plans include a new state of the art steak and seafood bar, a luxury bar to the front of the building with a capacity for 500 people, a separate brand new night club with a capacity for 1100 people and a refit of the existing bar which has a capacity for 900 people.

Purepipe To Create Six New Jobs
Belfast-based Purepipe is investing £250,000 and creating six new jobs as part of plans to boost sales in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company £45,000 towards its expansion which involves investing in new state-of-the-art specialised pipe manufacturing equipment needed to target new business.

Bausch + Lomb Create 125 New Jobs
Bausch + Lomb has announced the opening of a new €85 million extension at the their Waterford facility, with the creation of 125 new jobs. Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, the parent company of Bausch + Lomb, has invested more than €200 million in the Waterford facility's operations, infrastructure and manufacturing line growth.
