New £5 million bar, bistro & club opens in Cookstown

March 7th saw the official opening party of one of the most exciting new premises in the Mid Ulster area - Mint Cafe Bar, James Street, Cookstown.

The bar, bistro, night club, is spread over three floors with an overall capacity for 1,000 people and is a welcome addition to the hospitality scene in Northern Ireland.

Mint Cafe Bar threw a glamorous party for over 800 local revellers and guests who travelled from Belfast and further afield to experience the stunning new venue that rivals anything to open in Belfast or Dublin in recent years. Hollywood searchlights lit up the Mid – Ulster night sky. Acrobatic fire jugglers, glamorous promotional staff with customised miniature top hats and waistcoats greeted the guests offering complimentary Corona, Heineken, El Descanso Wines, Charles Heidsieck Champagne and canapés. Revellers had the opportunity to play the casino tables with Mint branded money; the casino winner receiving 2 nights’ stay with dinner at the Morrison Hotel Dublin. Local radio station Six FM broadcast live outside the venue and created a stir for guests arriving.

Matt McAllister, operation director with Mint Cafe Bar said of the opening party:

Mid Ulster has been synonymous with great live entertainment in the past and general manager Darryl Flynn wants to re-establish that reputation. He is booking live bands to play in Mint Cafe Bar every Friday and Sunday with more night to follow in the future. Darryl secured Joe Echo, formally of successful Northern Ireland band, Leya, as the resident musician on Sunday nights. Joe’s mix of acoustic guitar and electro over-layered beats is winning a great local following.
