UTV Launch Largest 'Green Screen'

UTV Facilities has launched their new green infinity curve studio - the largest of its type in Northern Ireland at the broadcaster's headquarters in Belfast.

The new studio provides the ability to record a 180 degree wide viewing angle with the capability to add in any backdrop in post production.

Michael Wilson, Managing Director of UTV Television, added: "This new Green Screen facility at UTV is fantastic news for the creative industry in Northern Ireland. UTV has invested significantly to bring this technology to Belfast and we are looking forward to working with the media and creative industries to experience with the studio to see just how far we can push its creative boundaries."

The state-of-the-art facility is four metres high with a 7.3m by 6.1m cyclorama. The backdrop and the floor of the studio comprises 44.86 sq m of active filming space and although the studio is currently green, it can be adapted to any chroma key colour including blue and white.

Sean Ferrin, UTV Head of Resources, said: "As the media and creative industry develops in Northern Ireland, there is growing demand for a more sophisticated kind of green screen facility.

"Traditional chroma key is flat and only allows limited options for programme makers, yet this new 180 degree infinity curve will instead allow for real depth to moving images and put people 'in the picture' rather than in front of it."

The studio is equipped with full connectivity to an outside broadcast unit or high definition Kachuna 64 input mixer and has direct access to the props department and double door loading bay area.

With its high ceilings, sound proofed walls and broadcast quality lighting grid, the studio is ideal for television pilots, commercial shoots, camera tests, music videos and corporate shoots as well as a diverse range of events.

The new full green infinity curve studio is now available for hire. For further information or to visit the studio, contact Broadcast Marketing Executive Sarah McCaffrey on: 028 90 262186 or via email at: sarah@u.tv
