Stabbing Leaves One Dead In Co Louth
One man has died and a female is recovering in hospital after a double stabbing incident in Drogheda yesterday.
The 32-year-old man who was stabbed in Drogheda yesterday passed away in the early hours of this morning in St. Vincents Hospital, Dublin.
The 30 year old woman who was also stabbed remains in Our Ladies of Lourdes Hospital but her injuries are not life threatening.
A 30-year-old man was arrested in Drogheda late last night in relation to the investigation and is presently detained in Drogheda under section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act.
The alarm was raised shortly after 2pm when Gardaí were called to an apartment in Fitzwilliam Court in Dyer Street.
It is believed the attacker was a man known to the female victim. He called to the apartment and attacked the couple because he was unhappy about the nature of their relationship.
Both victims were stabbed in the stomach. The attacker then fled the scene.
Both victims were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, but the man was later transferred to St Vincent's in Dublin where he died in the early hours of this morning.
All three are believed to be of Pakistani origin.

Two people have been killed in separate stabbing incidents in Northern Ireland over the weekend. Hugh McKibben, 51, of Main Street in Carrowdore died in a stabbing incident at a house on Inisharoan Court about midnight on Sunday May 5. Four people were arrested following his murder but three have since been released on police bail.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.

Man Dies In Portadown Road Crash
An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
