Lager Launches NI Soccer Web Link-up

Soccer players have this week united with the launch of a new sporting and social web site dedicated to amateur and 'small-sided' soccer in Northern Ireland.

The site, at Tonthepitch.com created by Tennent's Lager, will give every single team and every single player across the province their own 'instant' web pages - all free of charge - and will provide a central hub of information.

Helping to kick-start the new site is Tennent's Tonthepitch.com promotional team's Jenny Curran and Ciara McStravick, (pictured by Darren Kidd, Presseye), highlighting that the site will also launch an all-new Tennent's Sixes soccer tournament.

Tennent's Marketing Manager in Northern Ireland, Aisling Duffy, said: "We wanted to put our mark on football here in Northern Ireland and make a meaningful contribution to the playing experience.

"While we recognise and love the wit and occasional wisdom of the 'footie' fans who dissect the weekend's soccer news over a pint or two, this time our focus was firmly on those who are actively involved in playing the game.

"That was our starting point and, when we asked players what they'd like to see, our research highlighted a lack of focus and resource for amateur soccer, coupled with a need to build the five- and six-a-side game beyond Belfast where it is most organised and popular," she explained.

"The answer was to bring together local experts to create this all-new and entirely innovative hub exclusively for those whose passion is for the amateur and small-sided game

"The new web resource caters for every level and ability and will not only provide a speedy, 'Monday morning' results service for all amateur football, but will also be a major 'shop window' for amateur clubs and their players," she said, noting that the ambition is, over the course of this season, to get every amateur footballer and team in Northern Ireland signed up as part of the new Tonthepitch community.
