Tennent Street Bomb Alert Over
A security alert in north Belfast sparked by the discovery of a suspicious object under a car has been declared a hoax.
Army bomb experts examined the suspicious package which was found underneath a car close to Tennent Street police station on Monday after several homes were evacuated during the alert.
But the street has now re-opened and people have been allowed to return to their homes.
Elsewhere, the Army also dealt with two security alerts in Co Armagh.
Residents in the Allenhill Park area of Lurgan have now been allowed to return to their homes after waste ground at the old Glendinning factory was searched amid claims that a bomb had been abandoned in the area.
Meanwhile, a suspect device, which was discovered on the Tullygally Road in Craigavon on Monday morning, was also declared a hoax.
Commenting on the Belfast alert, the DUP representative, William Humphrey said: "A car was clamped outside the Tennent Street Police Station because it had no tax disc on it.
"When Council staff arrived on the scene to inspect the vehicle they became concerned that there was a suspicious object underneath it.
"They brought this to the attention of the police in the station and bomb disposal officers were called to the scene."
It was the third such hoax security alert today - along with the two in Co Armagh.

A bomb alert in Newtownabbey has been declared a hoax. PSNI have described the security alert as an "elaborate hoax". The M5, was closed in both directions from Hazelbank to Doagh Road, on Tuesday night. All roads have re-opened.

North Belfast Security Alert An Elaborate Hoax
A security alert in north Belfast today was an elaborate hoax. Police were alerted after a suspicious object was found at a property on Upper Meadow Street on Monday. Officers from the army bomb squad attended the scene and carried out a controlled explosion on the suspicious object. After tests it was declared an elaborate hoax.
