Six Arrested In Mallusk Drugs Raid
Six men have been arrested and are expected in court after £100,000 of drugs was uncovered in Mallusk, Co Antrim.
The men aged 30, 33, 36, 41, 46 and 53 were arrested in the Mallusk area on Wednesday night and are charged with a variety of offences, including attempted robbery, possession of offensive weapons, possession, cultivation and supply of class A and class B drugs.
The suspected cannabis factory was discovered during searches at a house on the Mallusk Road, Newtownabbey earlier in the week.
Over 100 cannabis plants were seized, along with equipment, harvested and pre-prepared cannabis worth more than £100,000.
Just last month, a large quantity of 'Viagra' style tablets and jellies were recovered in a major operation targeting the rising problem of unlicensed drugs in the same area.
The substantial quantity of medicines were seized by Health & Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) Medicines Regulatory Group officials during a search of a residential dwelling in Glengormley.
Also last month in Newtownabbey, three people were arrested after class A and B drugs - including cannabis - also valued at over £100,000 - were found by police.
An initial police stop and search of a car in Newtownabbey revealed an amount of cannabis, and two men in their 20s were taken in for questioning.
Follow up searches were then carried out in the Monkstown and other areas of Newtownabbey and another 30-year-old man was arrested in one property, and a substantial amount of class A and B drugs were uncovered.
