Five AM Car Pursuit Ends In Crash
An early morning car chase has ended with a female driver taken to hospital following an apparent collision at a roundabout in the Rossmore area of south Belfast.
It happened shortly after 5am on Friday after the police had spotted a car being driven the wrong way along Donegall Quay and then followed it to the Ormeau Road, where the chase ended when the driver hit the roundabout and she was taken to hospital with injuries.
The PSNI said that a 29-year-old woman has been treated in hospital after she was involved in a police pursuit in south Belfast.
"At around 5am on Friday a car driving against the flow of traffic at the Donegall Quay area failed to stop for officers.
"The vehicle continued against the flow of traffic along Victoria Street, Cromac Street and then onto the Ormeau Road.
"The driver continued towards the Rossmore area, still followed by police, when the car hit a roundabout," the PSNI said.
Although the female driver suffered body and neck injuries during the crash, they are not thought to be life threatening.
Earlier today, all traffic approaching the Rosetta roundabout area was severely disrupted during the morning rush hour as police cleared the scene.
Traffic was badly disrupted and city-bound traffic directed along the Annadale Embankement as the roundabout was closed off during the investigations.
