Child Treated After Gang Smashes Up Home

The East Belfast Alliance MLA Chris Lyttle has condemned an incident that left a three-year-old girl attending hospital.

It happened after two men were attacked in their home at Epworth Street off Templemore Avenue on Sunday night.

The three-year-old girl was not assaulted but was taken to hospital afterwards.

The incident took place shortly before 10.10pm when several masked men entered the house at Epworth Street off Templemore Avenue.

They attacked two men, aged 18 and 40, and both were taken to hospital for wounds not believed to be life threatening.

A number of items in the house were also damaged.

Chris Lyttle MLA (pictured here) said: "This must have been an extremely harrowing incident for the men who were attacked and for the young girl that was taken to hospital.

"People living in the area will be very shocked that this has happened.

"For people to have been attacked in their home is appalling as the home is meant to be a place of safety," he said.

"This type of behaviour has no place in our society and those behind this attack must be apprehended. I appeal to anyone with information on this incident to contact police immediately."
