American Tourist Found Alive

An American tourist who went missing in the Irish Republic a few days ago has been found alive.

The alarm was raised on Sunday when 41-year-old Kelly Jones did not return Glencolmcille hostel where she was staying.

A search and rescue operation for the woman from South Carolina has been ongoing since then.

The Coastguard, Gardaí and Donegal Mountain Rescue joined forces for the search.

Ms Jones, who is an experienced hill walker, was found in an abandoned ruin called the Old Rectory in Glencolmcille.

It is not clear what her condition is but she has now been airlifted to Sligo General Hospital.

The father of a missing tourist believed she might have headed towards the Slieve League area in Co Donegal.

Ms Jones was on a ten day hiking holiday in Donegal.
