Chips are down at high-tech conference

A major European conference on Field Programmable Logic booted up at the main campus of Queen's University Belfast on Monday August 27.

The area is of particular interest to chip manufacturers and designers who see the area as providing a means to create computer chips that are adaptable to a range of tasks.

This could lead to the introduction of advanced microcomputer hardware technology that is not immediately rendered obsolete by the latest wave of technological innovation as the chips can be reprogrammed to include the latest advances.

The conference, held in the Whitla Hall, aims to target all aspects of Field Programmable Logic, including applications, technology and tools.

A particular focus of the three-day conference on August 27 to 29 will be the impact of field programmable logic on networking, telecommunications and signal processing. (SP)
