SDLP councillor condemns 'brutal' stabbing
An SDLP councillor has condemned the stabbing of a man in Co Londonderry at the weekend.
The man was returning home at around midnight on Saturday when he was confronted by a youth in the Donkey Field area of Londonderry's Shantallow estate.
A struggle ensued between the two before the youth stabbed his victim three times with a knife. The wounded man was able to crawl to a nearby house to raise the alarm as his attacker ran off.
SDLP MLA for Foyle, Mary Bradley, described the attack, which left the victim with stab wounds to his arm and upper body, as "particularly brutal".
"Attacks of this nature are worryingly increasing in Derry at the weekend," she added.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
