Paramilitary-style attacks in west Belfast

Two men were recovering in hospital on Friday morning after paramilitary-style shootings in west Belfast.

A man from the Moyard Crescent area was shot in the ankles and elbows at 10.15pm on Thursday night.

In a separate attack, a man received gunshot wounds to his ankles and one hand in the Beechmount Parade area just after 10pm.

Meanwhile a family have escaped injury in a gun attack on their home in County Antrim.

The couple and their 18-month-old son escaped injury when a shot was fired at the house in Ballymena on Friday.

A shot was fired at the front door of the house at Ballymoney Road, Ballymena shortly after 1am on Friday morning. The couple and their child were asleep upstairs when the attack took place.

Police have condemned the attack. (AMcE)

Police Appeal Following Burglary In Ahoghill
Detectives are appealing for information following a report of a burglary in Ahoghill on Tuesday, 12th November. Police received a report that the back door of a house on the Ballymena Road was forced open shortly before 6pm.

Man receives gun shot wounds in Derry attack
A man and woman who were badly injured following an assault in Londonderry had been abducted hours before in County Westmeath. The 42-year-old man and 38-year-old woman were found at High Park in Creggan at around 5:00am. They had been taken from their home in Mullingar between 8:00pm and 9:00pm on Monday evening and driven more than 120 miles.

Spate of gun attacks in Belfast and Londonderry
A number of people have escaped injury in separate gun attacks in Belfast and Londonderry. Two masked men, armed with shotguns, forced their way into a house in the Markets area of Belfast in the early hours of Monday morning. A man escaped injury in the attack after a shot was fired through the upstairs bedroom door.

Two men shot in paramilitary style attacks in west Belfast
Two men have been shot in the ankles in separate paramilitary-style attacks in west Belfast. The first man was shot in both ankles around 8.30pm in Norglen Parade on Wednesday night and was treated in hospital. The second attack happened in Vere Foster Walk around 10.40pm and the man was also shot in both ankles and sent to hospital for treatment.

Europe to hold three-minute-silence for US victims
Citizens across Europe will be observing a three-minute-silence on Friday morning to pay their respects to the thousands presumed dead in New York and Washington terrorist attacks.
