£1.5m facelift for Marks & Spencer store
Work has started on a £1.5 million facelift for the Marks & Spencer store in Belfast city centre.
Over the next nine weeks local contractor McLaughlin & Harvey will be working on the new look store at Donegall Place which is due to be completed in October.
Chosen as one of 90 Marks & Spencer stores across the UK to receive the ‘renewal programme’, customers will still be able to shop in the store while work takes place.
When complete the new look store will employ more than 300 permanent staff.
Colin Hamilton, Store Manager said: “This is one of the most ambitious development programmes ever undertaken at the Belfast store and will create a fabulous new look for our store.
“Once work is complete we will have a stunning new store, selling the products our customers want in a stylish and superb new setting.”
The new look store will feature the new Per Una womenswear collection, a Beauty Shop, as well as an extended Café Revive.
Mr Hamilton added: “The Belfast store will resume Sunday trading as of August 26 and we look forward to further increased trading once our renewal programme is complete.” (GB)
