Belfast MTV Awards A 'Logistical Triumph'
The head of NI's leading professional body in the passenger transport industry has praised the success of its members in delivering the logistics programme for the recent MTV EMAs hosted at the Odyssey Arena.
Transport organisers on behalf of MTV told officials that they were deeply impressed with the level of service offered by members of the Federation of Passenger Transport NI, who were responsible for providing buses, coaches, limos and executive travel on the night.
In total, the Federation transported over 3,500 performers, crew, press, and visitors on the night to ensure that the stage could be set for the biggest bash Belfast has seen in years.
Karen Magill, Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Passenger Transport NI, (pictured) praised both the coordination and professionalism of members: "The vote of confidence we have received will help us to kick on and demonstrate that Belfast has the tools and the talent to support amazing artists and great events.
"We can deliver more flexible transport capacity than any other organisation and we are constantly striving to improve the service we offer.
"We look forward to welcoming back MTV next year for the Titanic Slipway music event as well the World Police and Fire Games where our members will be providing the same level of great service," she said, adding that with an estimated turnover of £200m, the bus and coach industry in Northern Ireland is thought to be one of the most economically important industries and employs over 6,000 people across the region.
The Federation of Passenger Transport NI represents Northern Ireland's leading bus and coach operators.
Now entering its 10th year, members of the Federation have over 2,000 buses and coaches and offer small and large-scale provision for transport users across Northern Ireland. Based in Ballymena, the Federation seeks to support its members in raising standards and improving quality and safety in this vital industry.
