Guinness partnership is good for Belfast tourism
The Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau (BVCB) has claimed that a new strategic partnership with leading drinks distributor Guinness Northern Ireland will help double tourist numbers to the city in the next five years.
The partnership, unveiled on Thursday at the recently-opened Belfast Welcome Centre, represents a major investment by Guinness NI over three years and will significantly increase the BVCBs marketing budget adding to core funding supplied by Belfast City Council and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
During each of the next three years, Guinness NI will invest an undisclosed six-figure sum that will help the Bureau concentrate on a number of key projects.
BVCB Chief Executive Gerry Lennon said: “We are delighted to welcome Guinness Northern Ireland as our new strategic partner.
“This partnership is very much in keeping with one of the aims of the Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau which is to work in partnership with local industry and attract private sector support to add value to existing public sector funding.”
Stephen Magorrian, Sales Director with Guinness NI, said that the partnership reflected the company’s commitment to the future economic development of Belfast and Northern Ireland as a whole.
“As a major player in Belfast, Guinness NI has always been at the centre of social, community and business life in Northern Ireland,” said Mr Magorrian.
“This is the perfect opportunity for us to contribute to the future economic development of Belfast, which, as the province’s capital city, will benefit Northern Ireland as a whole. As well as this, the new modern image of Belfast as a lively, vibrant and interesting city to visit is exactly at one with the image of Guinness Northern Ireland.”
BVCB Chairman Ciaran Rogan also welcomed the new funding from Guinness.
