£2.5m Roads Investment Announced
The NI Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has set out Roads Service's progress on investment totalling £2.52m in the Moyle area this year.
The Minister said: "Roads Service expects to publish an Environmental Statement, draft Direction Order and draft Vesting Order later this financial year for the A26 Frosses dualling scheme.
"These will invite formal comment and objection which will most likely lead to a public inquiry to examine the case for and against the scheme.
"The priorities and constraints placed on funding levels by Budget 2010 mean it is likely the programme of local transport and safety measures in 2012/13 and 2013/14 will be under considerable pressure. While current indications are that funding for resurfacing and minor improvement works will be very limited next year, I remain committed to delivering these important schemes as resources permit. The autumn round of Council meetings is a timely opportunity for Councils to discuss potential schemes and priorities for incoming and future years."
Principal Engineer Colin Hutchinson also highlighted a number of maintenance schemes currently under construction and planned this year.
He said: "Resurfacing schemes have been completed on the A2 Cushendall Road, Ballycastle, B67 Moyarget Road, Ballycastle, A43 Glenariff Road, Waterfoot and the B147 Ballinlea Road, Armoy. Further stretches of resurfacing are planned for the A2 Cushendall Road, Ballynagard, B15 Clare Road, Ballycastle and the A2 Loughareema Road, Cushendun."

Local roads get record £80m spend
A record £80 million will be spent on structural roads maintenance this year across Northern Ireland. The figure was revealed by Deputy Divisional Roads Manager, Tom McCourt as he presented DRD Roads Service’s autumn report to Newtownabbey Borough Council. Mr McCourt said: "This is a huge increase in investment over previous years.

Kennedy Announces Two Resurfacing Schemes
Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of two major resurfacing schemes this week in Portadown and L'Derry. A £330,000 resurfacing scheme has been announced for the Kernan Loop and M12 in Portadown, Armagh. The project will take place from Northway to the M12 and will include works on the M12.
