Coleman keeps the faith in original line up

The manager of Derry Eamon Coleman named an unchanged side for Sunday's All-Ireland quarterfinal date with Tyrone in Clones.

Coleman announced on Thursday that he is keeping faith with the side that strolled past Cavan last month with a 1-14 2-7 finish.

This decision means that Paul McFlynn keeps his place at half-forward and he has been handed a roving role at which he excels.

Coleman has also given a vote of confidence to his front men Dermot Dougan and Enda Muldoon, hoping no doubt that can finally produce the goods.

Anthony Tohill, who made such an impact against Cavan, has predicted that Derry will have to up the ante and their performance game if they are to do damage to potentially lethal Tyrone.

Tohill, who was named captain of Ireland’s international rules team to Australia this week, said in an interview with the BBC that: “We will definitely have to show an improvement. If we are going to match Tyrone, we are going to have to step up the gears a little. It is now all about how the team play as a unit.''

Derry team is as follows: E McCloskey, G Doherty, K McCloy, SM Lockhart, C McNally, G Coleman, F Crossan, A Tohill, F Doherty, P McFlynn, D Dougan, J McBride, P Bradley, E Muldoon, G Diamond. (AMcE)
