Two men remanded on charges of dissident activity
Two Belfast men have been remanded in custody charged with blackmail and fundraising for terrorism.
William Hunter, 42, from Upper Canning Street in Belfast, and Hugh Mitchell, aged 45 from the Shore Road, were charged with making unwarranted demands for £2,000 earlier this month between July 2 and 7.
An RUC detective constable told the court that when charged William Hunter replied not guilty to both offences. He said Hugh Mitchell made no reply.
Meanwhile two men arrested during an Irish police investigation into dissident republican activity earlier this week appeared in the Special Criminal Court in Dublin on Friday July 27.

Detective Sergeant William Hanrahan, of the Special Detective Unit, gave evidence of arresting Keane at 6.40 am on Wednesday. He said Keane was questioned and made a statement while in custody.
Detective Sergeant Thomas Maguire, of the Special Detective Unit, said he arrested O`Rourke at 7.43am on Wednesday. He said O`Rourke also made a statement while in custody.
The two men were remanded in custody until Monday. Three other men arrested as part of the same investigation have been released without charge. (AMcE)
