Gilchrist Killer Jailed Again On Probation Breach
The man who admitted to the manslaughter of a Londonderry musician has been jailed again.
Daryl Quigley was originally sentenced to 10 years in jail for killing Jim Gilchrist in 2005.
The 24-year-old, c/o the Must Hostel in Cookstown, has now been jailed again for 18months after breaching the terms of his probation.
Quigley was jailed for his part in the death of the 62-year-old father-of-five and grandfather who was found floating in the River Foyle after he was attacked on his way home from a meeting of a motorcycle club.
It is understood that Quigley repeatedly breached the terms of his probation: including becoming verbally abusive whilst intoxicated and a shoplifting charge. The court heard that Mr Quigley was showing an escalation in risk-taking behaviour.

The PSNI has welcomed the sentencing of a man at Craigavon Crown Court in connection with a cannabis farm disovered in Annahilt in February, 2023. Clive Weir, from the Annahilt area, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 18 months on licence.

Man refused bail over musician's murder
The man accused of murdering blues musician Jim Gilchrist was refused bail today at the High Court. Daryll John Quigley, 18, from Woodland Walk, Limavady, was charged with murder along with two others, after Mr Gilchrist's body was recovered from the river Foyle in September last year. One of the two other men accused was also refused bail.

Petty Officer Edward Devenney, 30, is originally from County Tyrone. He was a communications engineer on a nuclear sub when he committed the security breach.

A Londonderry man has been jailed for nearly two years for sexually abusing three young sisters over 20 years ago. James Curran, 63, had his original sentence of probation overturned at the Appeal Court in Belfast. He was also sentenced to three years probation for indecent assaults.
