Firefighters Tackle Co Down Blaze

Fire crews have been tackling a large blaze at a vehicle scrap yard outside Mayobridge in County Down. Thousands of tyres were destroyed in the fire at the premises on Newry Road. The blaze has now been brought under control with no further threat to property or life. Up to 40 firefighters have been involved in tackling the blaze which was reported at 21:50 GMT on Sunday night.

Weather Conditions Halt Search For Fishermen

The search for five men missing after a fishing trawler sank off the west Cork coast on Sunday morning has been hampered by bad weather. At 06:00 GMT, the 'Bonhomme' sent out a distress signal when it got into difficulty off the Glandore Coast. Divers have been unable to search the wreck because of rough conditions. A crew of six men were on board. One man, who is Egyptian, was rescued and is being treated at Cork University Hospital.

Man Held Over Bomb Trap

Detectives investigating a failed booby-trap bomb murder bid on a soldier in Belfast have charged a man. The 40-year-old is accused of possession of a prohibited weapon. Security forces said the soldier was lucky to escape with his life after he spotted the device underneath the driver's seat inside his car on January 5.

Man Arrested In Connection With £150,000 Cannabis Seizure
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Organised Crime Unit, in partnership with Belfast Harbour Police, have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against drug crime. On Friday evening, November 22nd, a vehicle was intercepted and searched in the West Bank Road area of north Belfast.

Man Jailed In Connection With Annahilt Cannabis Farm
The PSNI has welcomed the sentencing of a man at Craigavon Crown Court in connection with a cannabis farm disovered in Annahilt in February, 2023. Clive Weir, from the Annahilt area, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 18 months on licence.

Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast
Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.
