Sky Announces 800 Jobs
Digital TV provider Sky has announced 800 jobs at a customer contact centre in Dublin.
The jobs will be created over the next two years and recruitment has already began.
The customer contact centre will open in the capital this August.
Welcoming the news, Labour's Kevin Humphreys said it was "heartening to hear'.
"It is a sign of confidence in the future of Ireland and Dublin, and the customer service centre will be a fantastic opportunity for people living in the south city centre area who are struggling with these difficult economic times.
"It is also a great boost for the local economy as restaurants, pubs and shops will see the benefit of increased spend. I am sure my constituents will welcome the opportunity to apply for these new jobs."
Mr Humphreys added that there was "still… a mountain to climb" in tackling the high rate of unemployment but that the Government had made a continuous series of policy announcements since taking office.
